Some small input from over here.
I've been working with JED for a long time in both Linux
(can a man have more fun than that combination?) and Windows
(fun only in comparison to car washing or ironing clothes...).
As a professional consultant I switch working places and
computers/OS rather often and I feel that the number one issue
to transparently and maintainably keep your personal settings
together everywhere is to
1. Never touch anything in JED_ROOT or its subdirs, since that
is (mostly) not writable for users on Linux.
2. Keep the personal stuff in ~/.jedrc and ~/.jed/ on Linux
and in c:\jed.rc and c:\jed on Windows.
Concerning the naming of different files - I don't think it matters very much as long as the above scheme is kept.
/Johann Gerell, longing for Unicode support i JED...
