This is because JMR does NOT depends on the sourceforce facilities. It is
mainly composed by a collection of php scripts. In this way, it is quite
easy to migrate to another site.
(Surprisingly, JMR's statistics look as if it was a really interesting or
busy project. Take a look at
http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/index.php?report=months&group_id=14968
and see how many page views!!).

It is not only a "lack of time", it is a **complete absence** of time.
(seriously speaking, this absence of time is so cruel that I have no time
to install JED ... I could'nt try the latest version, yet ... and I have to
work with vi or Xemacs ... or even the 'notepad', really pathetic! :~(

... any some of you send me very good ideas to improve JMR.
But JMR is in its first stage. The second stage I dreamed some time ago should
let people download and update jed modes directly from jed, using a special
jed mode: connect to a JMR mirror, download modes list, inform user about
installed versions vs latest updates, select items to download or update,
download jed modes (from JMR and other sites) and install them. More or less
this is what cygwin and xemacs implement. Moreover, the second stage should
also permit Jed developers upload their software also directly from jed.
Currently there is nothing done, it is only an idea ...
