I am running KDE and get the problems (since KDE 2).
One more idea: Maybe it is related to the version of xjed or slang?
(So the SuSE patched version maybe did not work becouse it was patched, but
because it was an old version?)
Now I use
Jed Version: 0.99.16
S-Lang Version: 1.4.5
(But the problem was definitely there with 99.15 as well.)
