Since no one else answered this part of your question, the flyspell mode
allows you to spell check any document as-you-go. Under flyspell, any words
which are mispelled in the open document are highlighted in red (or other
alternate colors) if they cannot be found in your current ispell
dictionaries. Moreover, once flyspell is started, if a word is highlighted
as being mispelled, you can put your cursor over the offending word, and
select System-Ispell-Word and either correct the word, if it is truly a
misspelled word, or add it to your personal Ispell dictionary if it is a
word you wish to continue using in the future.
