dfa highlighting: match across newline

Hi,

how can I match across newline? I want to mark all between $$ yellow.
Inside of a line it works, but not across line ends.

In C mode /**/ doing so, but I don't found how. I suppose it is done with
the old highlighting method. But how doing this with the dfa
highlighting?
