No idea. While we're on the subject, I got the Alt key to generate Escape
in Xterm by adding the line
XTerm*metaSendsEscape: true
to my .Xdefaults. I can see most of the UTF8-demo by starting JED
with the command
LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 /usr/X11R6/bin/xterm +sb -u8 -fn \
-misc-fixed-medium-r-*-*-*-200-*-*-*-*-iso10646-* -e /usr/local/bin/jed
