I've no good idea. Before saving, open a new terminal and start
strace -p$(pidof jed). Then save the file and go back to strace and see
if you find any interesting. Maybe, you should save the log with
-o/tmp/jed.st

The only thing that came into my mind are symlinks. Are symlinks
supported by CIFS? Jed creates a symlink as lock file.
