What version of jed and slang are you using?  That is, what does the
following produce?

   jed --version

It looks like you are using 0.99.18.  If so, try around line 475 of
html.sl, change:

  undefinekey (_Reserved_Key_Prefix, $1);
  definekey("html_keymap", _Reserved_Key_Prefix, $1);

to

  if (_Reserved_Key_Prefix != NULL)
  {
     undefinekey (_Reserved_Key_Prefix, $1);
     definekey("html_keymap", _Reserved_Key_Prefix, $1);
  }

Then repeat the test.
