You can also use /etc/jed.conf (or /usr/local/etc/jed.conf) with:
Default_Jedrc_Startup_File = "/usr/local/etc/jed.rc";
where /usr/local/etc/jed.rc is a customized version of
/usr/local/etc/jed.rc. This will give you the option of trying out
development snapshots without worrying about copying defaults.sl.
