[Jed-users-l] using gpm with jed .99.19 in ubuntu linux

The Makefile generated by 'configure' in jed .99.19 does not have default information about activating gpm support filled in and commented out as it was in older versions.  Is it still necessary to modify that Makefile to enable gpm?  Is gpm relevant to/used by gnome-console or the KDE equivalent, rather than xterm?  The documentation of the recent version says that gpm support is 'built-in': what does this mean?
