[Jed-users-l] Inserting a tab

How do I insert a tab character when using jed?
I have a config file (for perforce) that I occasionally need to insert a tab
for.

I would copy and paste an existing tab, but that seems to fail.

P.S. I tried searching, but that only brought up using the tab key to indent
with spaces.
