Why detect or switch? Just define them both all the time (unless
there are conflicts).
(If you can detect via an environment variable, the getenv function
can read environment variables.)
You might want to try setting them in the global_mode_hook() function.
For example:
define global_mode_hook ( hook_name ) {
local_setkey ("ide_skip_word", "\E[5C");
local_setkey ("ide_skip_word", "\e[1;5C");
}
