For years I've had this script.

#!/bin/sh
#
# (SciTE "-read.only=1" $1 $2 $3 $4)
# (cream -R $1 $2 $3 $4)
(jed $1 $2 $3 $4 --readonly)
# (scribes -r $1 $2 $3 $4)
# (joe -tab 4 -rdonly $1 $2 $3 $4)
# (the -r $1 $2 $3 $4)
# (diakonos -ro $1 $2 $3 $4)

For years I've been able to type browse a.txt and have Jed open
up in read only mode. Today I tried it with PingyOS (Ubuntu 18
based) 64-bit and it interprets --readonly as a file name.

When I type

man jed

I don't see any command line readonly option listed. Why did this
go bye bye?

If we are supposed to use the View mode from jedmodes

http://jedmodes.sourceforge.net/modes/

I must confess to having a brain spasm (introduced by readonly no
longer working) and don't know how to do that from command line.

Thanks,
