- Subject: [slang-users] Latin1 characters in UTF-8 mode

Hello!
While playing with slrn in UTF-8 mode, it struck me as odd that Latin1
(ISO 8859-1) characters I feed into SLsmg_write_nchars are still displayed
correctly on the (UTF-8) terminal.
I suspect that some magic is going on inside slang when invalid UTF-8
chars are encountered (if I simply "cat" a Latin1-encoded file in the same
console, 8bit chars are - as expected - not displayed correctly). Could
somebody please point me to more information about this?
Thank you
Thomas
