Ok, implemeted static as directed and all works for me as discussed.
Dumb error on my part. ;^)
Next up, fix the bugs Paul pointed out and add multiple dbs support.
Also test the bug reported when using under Jed.
Thank you all for the support. I hope to have some new features
implemented soon.

I think the problem lies in the fact that most of the functions and variables
in the module are not static. The module probably redefines some global
symbol of the library. If I make everything static, it works fine here.
