You're right. Recently I installed Xemacs on a friend's computer and the
first thing he said was "Humpf. Doesn't have a 'recent' menu." Now I've
switched him to jedit.

Through the distributed jedrc. That way users can easily replace it
with Günters recent or with wbf.sl.

As it is now, the standard recent should not be enabled anyway because
for some reason it saves the recent-file with every buffer switch. I use
my own sfrecent.sl (at JMR>misc). That can easily be split in a part to
be loaded at startup (about 75 lines) and an autoloaded part.
The no-frames JMR works now, but the frames interface gives a "hall of
mirrors" effect?
