Instead of starting a new (x)jed, you can open your file in an existing one
with the emacsclient and emacsserver programs and the server.sl script in
<http://jedmodes.sf.net/index.php?mode=misc>. As an example I have this in
.muttrc:
set editor="emacsclient %s || jed %s"
