Yes, I do use isearch; search_forward does indeed work. Until some minutes
ago I would have never thought that there might be a difference.

Do you mean isearch or the xjed input problem? Or both? How many
days/weeks/months do you mean by 'soon'?

Furthermore, I am surprised about the isearch/search_forward difference. Do
I have to expect lots of other functions not working because they are
'rarely used'?

BTW: what's the advantage of using search_forward instead of isearch?
isearch instantly gives feedback while typing...
