John E. Davis spake unto us the following wisdom: > >Name[ja]=Firefox ウェブ・ブラウザ > > I am unable to reproduce this. What mode are you using when you see > his behavior? Just to verify, you are talking about this byte-sequence: I can reproduce this here, on both 0.99.17-165U with Ubuntu Slang 2.0.4-4 and 0.99.18U with Slang 2.0.4-4. This occurs in both text-mode and no mode (such as *scratch*). It does *not* occur on another system with Jed 0.99.18U and Slang 2.0.5; perhaps this is a problem with the Ubuntu package, or a problem fixed between 2.0.4 and 2.0.5? Several (any?) of those Japanese characters seem to trigger the problem here, as well as other kana I have tried (for example, ェ and ふ, as well as a double-width space) and a handful of kanji. Ethan -- The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws [that have no remedy for evils]. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. -- Cesare Beccaria, "On Crimes and Punishments", 1764
