Why do you want to use 0.99-35?  Do you have a program that depends
upon v0.99-35 because it is dynamically linked to it?  If so, and
depending upon the nature of the program, you may be able to just
create libslang.so.0.99.35 as a link to libslang.so.0.99.38.  From
slang/changes.txt, v0.99-35 and v0.99-38 are not that much different,
except for bug fixes and some new features in v0.99-38.
