My plan is to finish the UTF-8 support (all string functions needed to
be rewritten with completely different algorithms) and the finish up
the new try-catch code.  Then I will make that available as a
pre-release/work in progress.  In recent months I have spent a fair
bit of my time developing and modules for slang 1.X.  See

currently available.  I hope to get back to working on slang 2 soon.
