Hi there,

first of all thanks to John for pointing me to ibus. I found that some
installed packages depend on ibus, so I didn't want to remove the
package. Instead I found out that stopping the daemon via "ibus exit"
is enough to get xjed running, and I opted to call that when starting
my X11 session.

About fourteen years ago I stopped using jed on the console and don't
remember why. Maybe it was because of color schemes, compatibility to
wjed or certain keys or combinations of keys not working on the
console? However, it seems jed on the console is not an option for me
(see Günters message).

Currently I'm not using any software depending on ibus, but that may
change. Switching to another editor, losing memorized key combinations
or having to learn new ones would hurt. I hope jed keeps up with
certain developments so I'm not forced to stop using it. BTW, the same
holds for mutt...
